Chapter
Ten --- More CLI Circle Principles
.
Soon
after I realized I was to write the book you are
now reading, the following three, additional,
relevant issues came to my attention.
.
1)
Pushing a Position
I
ask, "Jezebel, aren’t you peddling a
position by having me write this book?”
She
responded with, “By example, let me
distinguish for you the difference between
peddling (pushing) a position and offering
information.
Pushing
your position is demanding (under threat of
massive political support against them) that
elected officials vote to turn your personal
religious beliefs into secular law.
Pushing
your position is going on TV to peddle a
particular set of beliefs and to solicit money
to buy more air time to peddle those beliefs
some more and to ask again for still more money.
Pushing
your position is demanding, under threat of
economic boycott, that a national,
convenience-store chain stop carrying a
particular magazine because you disapprove of
it’s content.
On
the other hand, writing a book, including a book
describing CLI Circles, is simply making
information available to those who are
interested in receiving that information.
With The Yoni Dance book available, everybody
has a little more truth and one more option to
choose from. Everyone is free to
read the book or not read the book, and everyone
is free to accept or reject the information
offered in that book.
No
demands of any kind whatsoever are being imposed
on anyone; no one is pushing anyone to accept,
believe, or practice anything; and, above all,
unlike those who criticize our way of living, we
are not attempting to influence who gets elected
or who gets elected or appointed to public
office, and we are not proposing the use of
government sanctioned violence or threat of
violence to force anyone to practice our
personal beliefs.”
“Jezebel,
back before I knew I was to write a book about
the CLIC arts, you told my that you had no
position to defend, no need to defend it, and no
adversaries to defend it from. What
I’m hearing now sounds like you’re defend a
position.”
She
responds with, “When I originally said I had
no position to defend, that was completely
accurate. CLI Circles were a
completely private concept. However,
when the CLIC concepts are published in a book,
critics are bound to surface. And
just as they a have the right to be critical, I
have the right to express a view that offers a
response to their criticism. If the
criticisms are not responded to, those
criticisms will be taken as fact.
I
ask, “Why do you say that?”
“Because
most people do not think for themselves.
They believe whatever their revered leaders tell
them to believe, even if it’s complete
hogwash. Let me share with you a
classic example of just that.”
“Yes,
please do.”
“In
the 1988, Reagan /Dukakis presidential campaign,
when the Reagan peddlers used the ‘L word’
label to imply that liberal was such an obscene
word that it could not actually be spoken,
Mr. Dukakis completely blew that opportunity to
clearly explain what liberal meant and to
distinguish his own views from those of Mr.
Reagan. He did nothing and thus
allowed his liberal status to be associated with
the obscene.
“So
you are saying you will respond to any
criticisms made about CLI Circles?”
“Absolutely!
And the responses will be just as strong, just
as long, and just a dirty as the critics
accusations.”
“Then
you’ll be just as dirty as your accusers.”
“In
the present world, constructed the way it is,
speaking only the gentle truth to the lie is not
only foolhardy, it is suicidal. When
the wolves attack, you have two choices, fight
or die. For example, in the 2000
presidential campaign, both Bill Bradley and
Senator McCain, claimed themselves to be too
pure to sling back the mud that their opponents
plastered all over them, and it cost both of
them dearly.
.
2)
Lies, Deception, and Hidden Agendas
Jezebel
continues, “Another thing you might want to
look at are the motives and the hidden agendas
behind someone’s criticism."
“Can
you give me an example, please.”
“Certainly,
on ABC’s news program Nightline, on February
18, 2000, George Bush publicly acknowledged that the
only difference between his position in the
abortion controversy and the position of John
McCain is that Senator McCain is in favor of
fetal tissue research and Mr. Bush is opposed to
it. So doesn’t it seem a bit
strange that Pat Robinson, Ralph Reed, and the
so-called pro life groups spent hundreds of
thousands of dollars in PAC money in the South
Carolina primary badmouthing John McCain and
promoting George Bush?”
I
say, “Yes, that does seem strange.
McCain is against legal abortions and that’s
exactly the kind of politician that Pat Robinson
and the fundamentalist Christians claim they
want.”
“In
spite of Senator McCain’s 17 year pro-life
voting record, and in spite of Mr. Bush’s
public acknowledgment that their positions on
abortion are harmonious, Pat Robinson, Ralph
Reed, and the so-called pro life groups are
publicly proclaiming that Senator McCain is not
really pro-life.”
“So
what’s their real reason.”
The
real reason for their opposition to Senator
McCain is that McCain is promoting campaign
reform which would severely restrict all the
big-money-interests, including the
fundamentalist Christians, in their practice of
attempting buy politicians and political
elections.
Exit
poles at the February 19, 2000, North Carolina,
Republican primary election indicated that the
voters based their votes mainly on three issues,
abortion, taxes and morality. On
such issues, it is absolutely amazing that the
majority of voters thought that Mr. Bush was the
better candidate.
But
then, it should be of no surprise that lies,
deceptions and big money won out once again.
Bush and the anti-abortionists spent millions of
dollars badmouthing McCain in any way they could
imagine.
That
really doesn’t say much for the public’s
ability to see beyond the surface garbage that
was peddled by the right wing fundamentalist
Christians and by the Bush campaign itself."
.
3)
A Secret Society of Sex Perverts
The
third issue is an accusation that is sure to be
thrown at the CLICs. I suggested to
Jezebel that we answer the accusation before it
is even made. I tell her that sooner
or later, an anti-sexual do-gooder is going to
stand up in front of a television camera before,
countless thousands of viewers, denounce
CLICs as a secret society of sexual perverts.
Here is Jezebel’s response.
“First,
you have to consider the mentality of a person
who would make such an absurd
statement. Sharing sex with a
partner is a normal, natural, healthy thing to
do. Denying one's sexual nature is
far more perverse than acknowledging
it. Those who label healthy sex as
perverse are simply denying their own sexual
nature. Their denial comes out in
the form of an obsession about controlling
someone else's sexual behavior.
In
the once "Banned in America" book,
Lady Chatterley's Lover, the author, D. H.
Lawrence, addressed this issue head
on. Here's the essence of what he
said, "Folks should pay more
attention to their own fucking, then they
wouldn't want to listening to a lot of mouthfart
about someone else's." ***
Second,
a secret society implies that there is something
illegal, immoral, fraudulent, or unethical that
needs to be kept hidden. Publishing
a book certainly makes the concept of CLI
Circles anything but secret, and there is
absolutely nothing illegal, immoral, fraudulent,
or unethical about CLI Circles.
Third,
a secret society also implies exclusivity.
It implies that some are let in and others
rejected. With regard to CLICs, this
is definitely not so. Any one can
create a CLIC at any time and do anything they
want within it. For example, there
is a CLI Circle in a retirement home in
Minnesota where there is no sexual touching at
all. The members simply get together
to comfort one another with emotional support
and with each other’s loving touch.
In
a CLI Circle, there definitely is a significant
amount of discretion used in keeping the private
behavior of consulting adults private.”
I
ask, “Why all the concern about keep personal
behavior private?
Jezebel
replies, “Just look at President
Clinton. His behavior is the same as
about 100,000,000 other Americans who have also
had extramarital sexual encounters, including
the recent Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt,
John Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson and going
all the way back to Thomas Jefferson.
This also including countless religious
do-gooders who have publicly preach restrictive
sexual behavior and then secretly practice what
they preach against.
And
yet, the right wing, political cutthroats and
the religious do-gooders have joined forces and
used this issue to all but destroyed a very
competent, American President, a man who is
probably the greatest master of the political
process that this country has ever known.
They
couldn’t care less about President Clinton’s
sexual behavior. This was merely
another hypocritical scam designed to embarrass
the president and win support for themselves.
It
doesn’t take much looking to see their scam
and their hypocrisy. Newt Gingrich,
(the Republican Speaker of the House of
Representatives) the man who spearhead the
anti sexual, anti Clinton. impeachment
campaign was secretly having an extramarital
affair at the same time he was publicly
condemning President Clinton’s behavior.
When
the Gingrich hypocrisy was exposed, the
Republicans chose the prominent Republican
leader ______ ______ , to replace
Gingrich. ______ ______
, was never able to assume the powerful position
as the Republican Speaker of the House of
Representatives because he, too, was caught in
an adulterous affair.
So
you can see that in such a ridiculous and
hypocritical, political and social environment,
it is important for CLI Circle members to keep
their personal behavior private.
With
regard to sexual perversion, you have only to go
the Catholic Church to find one of the worlds
weirdest sexual perversions -- sexual
abstinence by those who have a normal, healthy
sexual desires.
All
the secret sex, including an astounding mount of
homosexuality, that has scandalized the Catholic
Church in recent years is another good example
that the “Just Say No” campaign of the right
wing anti-sexuals is a ridiculous unworkable
illusion.”
